Make anagrams from any word, name or phrase

Feed the generator a word, a name or a whole phrase and it rearranges the letters into new words for you. It checks each arrangement against a dictionary of 281,649 words, so what comes back is real and usable rather than random gibberish. Spaces and punctuation are ignored, which means you can drop in a full name or a short phrase and let the letters regroup.

Single-word mode

By default the generator lists every word your letters can make, longest first. Some letter sets have a perfect one-word anagram — LISTEN becomes SILENT, EARTH becomes HEART — but most do not, so the tool also shows the shorter words tucked inside your letters, the way a word unscrambler does. That makes it a quick way to see everything a word contains.

Multi-Word mode

Flip on Multi-Word mode and the generator looks for phrases that use every letter you entered, split across two or more real words. This is where longer inputs shine, since a name or phrase rarely has a tidy single-word anagram but often hides a clever pairing. For the full experience, dedicated ranking and classic examples, head to the multi-word anagram solver.

Name anagrams for fun

Rearranging a name is a favourite party trick, a nickname factory and a staple of pen names and pseudonyms. Type a first and last name, switch to Multi-Word mode, and skim the results for a phrase that fits the person. A ? or * stands in as a wildcard if you want to force an extra letter into the mix.

Where to go next

If you already know most of the answer and just need to fill a gap, the main anagram solver lets you lock known letters and search around them. If you are chasing a puzzle's single hidden word rather than open-ended wordplay, the word unscrambler gets you there faster. Tap any result to copy it and keep experimenting.
